The Venezuelan government reiterated its commitment to continue strengthening diplomatic relations with Haiti. This was expressed by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil through his Telegram channel, highlighting his intention to strengthen ties of brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations.
Gil's statements followed the receipt of the Letters of Credence accrediting Jean Mary Vaval as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti to Venezuela. The diplomatic leader underscored his government's support for Haiti's struggle for sovereignty and self-determination, emphasizing the importance of this struggle taking place "without threats or foreign intervention." Previously, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister met with Leslie Voltaire, leader of Haiti's Presidential Transitional Council. The meeting took place on Friday, May 30, on the sidelines of the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held in Colombia. At the meeting, both countries agreed to work "on a common agenda based on cooperation, solidarity, mutual respect, and the search for joint solutions to shared challenges."
