222 years since the Battle of Vertières
The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela commemorated this Monday, November 17, 2025, with a floral offering at the mausoleum of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in the National Pantheon, in Caracas, the 222nd anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, an event that took place on November 18, 1803, considered decisive and the most important feat of independence, which was led by General Jean Jacques Dessalines, supported by Generals Christoph, Petion, Clervaeu, Romain and the valiant Capois La Mort, who defeated the powerful army of Napoleon, considered the most powerful at that time.
The event also included the participation of the Vice-Minister of the Caribbean Office Raúl Li Causi and Major General Jesús Suárez Chourio, Deputy of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Deputy Guarnieri Yasneidi, Deputy Roraima Gutiérrez and representatives of several diplomats accredited in Venezuela.
