Haitian Embassy in Venezuela commemorates the 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag with an international forum
The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela held an International Forum within the framework of the commemoration of the 223rd anniversary of the flag and Haitian University Day.
The event took place in the Blue Auditorium, located in the basement of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (FaCES) at the Central University of Venezuela, where students, professors, and special guests gathered. The opening remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Luis Angarita Lazo, and His Excellency the Ambassador of Haiti, Jean Mary Vaval, who highlighted the historical ties and solidarity that have united both nations since the time of American emancipation.
The central part of the event featured a keynote address by Dr. Astery Painvain. During his presentation, the specialist delved into the complex processes that led to the abolition of slavery on the island and offered a detailed analysis of the fundamental and often overlooked role played by women and youth in the Haitian Revolution.
Also in attendance were the ambassadors of Mexico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Russia, and other diplomatic representatives accredited to Venezuela.
