Reception of community leaders to foster greater collaboration between the community and the Haitian Embassy in Venezuela
On Friday, July 28, 2025, at the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti, Her Excellency Jean Mary VAVAL, accompanied by her team, including Minister Counselor Jeançois Joseph, and the local officials responsible for communication and liaison with the community, Mr. Judner POINT-DU-JOUR and Mr. Patrick METTELUS, respectively.
The meeting agenda included the usual greetings and a cordial atmosphere. The leaders expressed their satisfaction, as it was the first time a Haitian representative had taken the initiative to convene them to discuss the situation of their compatriots. Community assistance was the central theme of the dialogue, given the serious problems faced by their fellow citizens, who are neglected and lack access to legal and police support. They also advocated for the creation of a Haitian-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce, which would facilitate the sale of Haitian products in the Venezuelan market and the exchange of goods, services, and technologies to promote greater development between these two sister nations and ensure the well-being of their populations. They expressed their desire that consular fees be paid in local currency (bolivars).
Ambassador Jean Mary Vaval, moved by the receptiveness of the community leaders, advocated for greater collaboration between the community and the Haitian Embassy in Venezuela to better address the problems faced by our fellow citizens. He affirmed that this diplomatic mission must always be open and available to the Haitian community.
The day concluded with the presentation of an honorary plaque to the Ambassador for his humanity, patriotism and dedication to working for the well-being of the Haitian community in Venezuela by community leaders.
